Caspian is a private desktop browser that stays out of your way. It tells you when a site is the real one, blocks ads and trackers on its own, and keeps split view, a media player and family controls built in.
Know it's the real one before you type a password.
Caspian carries a curated, cryptographically signed list of genuine sites. On one of them, a check appears in the address bar, on the tab and in site info. A lookalike simply has no check, and that absence is the tell.
The line is private.
HTTPS proves nobody can read or change what you send, and that you reached whoever owns that address. Nothing more. Certificates are free and automatic, so a lookalike gets a lock as easily as the real thing — nearly every phishing page has one.
It's the right address.
The check answers the question the lock can't: is this the real bank, the real tax office, the real campaign? It comes from a list Caspian reviews and signs — a fake can be encrypted, but it can't be on the list. You want both: a private line to the right place.
A padlock only means the connection is encrypted; a lookalike can have one too. The check means the site is on the list.
Blue means verified
Banks, payment services, stores and the tools you sign into every day. If the badge is there, you are where you think you are.
Purple means government
Tax, licensing, benefits and official portals get their own colour, so a copycat asking for your ID has nowhere to hide.
Rose means political
Campaigns and parties on the list carry their own mark, so a fake donation page can't borrow a candidate's name.
Signed, not scraped
The list is signed with Ed25519 and Caspian ships the public key. A tampered download or a hijacked update is simply ignored.

Caspian runs Chrome-format extensions — Manifest V3 and V2 — in its own runtime: content scripts, background workers, popups and badges, storage, messaging, keyboard commands, context menus. Open a Chrome Web Store listing in Caspian and the button reads Add to Caspian. The Caspian Extension Store lists extensions reviewed and signed by Caspian; those carry a verified badge in the browser, and a package that doesn't match its signature never gets one.

Keel is Caspian's own build of the engine. Pages run at your display's refresh rate — 120 fps scrolling on ProMotion and high-refresh monitors, where the stock engine sits at 60 — and H.264, AAC and HEVC are built in on every platform. Every site renders exactly as it does in Chrome; the account sign-in, sync, Safe Browsing lookups and telemetry are not there. Caspian talks to its own update server and nowhere else.
